Thursday Thirteen - Moving
I’m trying to psyche myself up for our impending move due to my husband’s job – it will be either Harrisburg, PA or Richmond, VA. Should find out which in the next two weeks. So, here are 13 good things about moving. *sigh*
1. Get to meet new people and hopefully make good friends
2. Get to explore a different city
3. Looking at homes for sale is fun
4. Get a piece of new jewelry (part of the “move contract” Husband and I have, lol)
5. Whether it’s PA or VA, I’ll still be closer to my best friend in Charlottesville, VA (obviously Richmond is my first pick)
6. If it’s VA, the weather will be more enjoyable than here (Ohio)
7. If it’s PA, I’ll still only be 3 ½ hrs. away from my aunt and many cousins in Pittsburgh
8. If it’s VA, we’ll only be a couple of hours away from my inlaws and this is actually a good thing – they’re great people
9. If it’s VA, we’d be in the same city as Husband’s sister who is moving to Richmond May 1st for her job (she works for a different company – what are the chances we’d BOTH move there?? Weird)
10. Husband is really, really nice to me for months after a move
11. As Husband climbs the ladder, each house gets nicer and nicer with each move
12. Husband will be getting a promotion which makes him happy which makes me happy and proud of him
13. Can’t really say it better than Forrest – Moving is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. Here’s hoping they’re all caramels instead of that unidentifiable barely edible nougat stuff.

Well, I live in Va, so I'll be hoping for Va for you. :) I went to school in Charlottesville! I love it there, and you'll be close to your friend!

What!? You don't like Ohio's weather where we can count on 37% sunshine whether or not we deserve it?
Good luck with the move; Ohio will miss you. I haven't moved that often, but I would choose to look on the happy reasons to make it easier. And every time we did move (even as a child) life always got better.
I've always enjoyed moving. I love fresh starts!

I loved my ex-boyfriend's parents, and I wish I didn't have to break up with them too. I would have loved to keep them as in-laws but not keep the guy. Oh well, guess it doesn't work that way.
Now, my husband's parent live close, like 5 minutes away, and it's not always a bad thing. They are pretty good to have around, but sometimes they interfere, like Everybody Loves Raymond, so much!

every 4 years we move as well, it is great to get to meet new people and experience new cultures and places. am sure you will love you will love it there - if not, there is always the new jewelry you got. ;)

Because of my hubby's job, we move a lot, too. It's been fun, but I'm tired now. Good news is, next move WE will get to choose the location. Hmmm... Been to so many good places. Which to choose?

Good luck to you, wherever it may turn out to be! Sounds like you are keeping a positive attitude about the move. Mmmm...chocolates...I like the cream ones (vanilla cream, strawberry cream, etc) Yum, now I want a box of chocolates. lol
Its so great that you have such a good attitude. I lived in D.C. for awhile which is right there by VA. I loved it and hopefully you will love your new home too.

Hope it's Virginia..I live 45 minutes from Charlottesville and 2 hours from Richmond. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Richmond!

Well, I biased. Virginia is home and being a native Virginian with roots that date back to the American Revolution, let me please recommend Old Virginia.
Richmond, however, would not be my first choice of locations. I prefer the coast, Northern Va, and the Shenandoah Valley, but at least in Richmond you are in a central enough location to all that. And remember…Virginia is for Lovers.
Anyway, I hope it works out for you.
Yeah, moving is fun. Everything new and exciting.
